“Deepak Chopra Lends Name to Squamish Addiction Centre” (Canada):

As the saying goes, for those who like that sort of thing – and can afford it - that’s the sort of thing they’d like. According to the article the cost of 4-6 weeks stay is $18-26,000. One of the principals of the Centre is quoted as saying, “If we position this program authentically, we will not attract those people who are looking for a quick fix and substitute methadone for heroin." Clearly, it is easier to speak of “authentic positioning” (whatever that might mean or imply) than of price, affordability and evidence of efficacy. Incidentally, the title is a tiny bit misleading in its reference to "lend its name"; rather, "Chopra Centre is licensing its brand and curriculum to Paradise Valley in return for a percentage of revenues generated."

So they are just making a move to generate more income for their company. On the other hand, going to the rehab is quite painful on the pocket. I guess its the price to pay for doing such a mess to your life.

Its actually rather sad that people who are attempting to 'help' others recover are also making so much money while doing this. I see it as not being necessarily from the heart as opposed to a cash cow.
My young niece is suffering from alcoholism and has spent a month at a rehabilitation place in Langley - it was FREE and is a Christian based facility. Granted I'd like to see her finish her recovery somewhere where she could also get more of a holistic approach and be able to do yoga, or whatever for relaxation.
Unfortunately, and very sad to say, not her parents or myself are in a situation to pay these incredibly high fees. This would prove to be quite limiting for so many people who are desperately in need.

These high costs to be treated for a life or death situation in many cases, is outrageous. A ttue healer would take whatever the patient can afford, and would help others from the bottom of there heart. I guess that deepak chopra promotes presciption drugs at the wellness centre, which is hipacritical on his behalf. I guess only the rich can be healed holistical, wish i was rich, how can the blind lead the blind, an addict lead an addict, this centre is sick because their founder is cashing in big time, taking advantage of the vonerable.
