WHAT ARE THE SCOTS SMOKING?

Recently there was a proposal to oblige women receiving methadone treatment for addiction to get it in combination form with contraceptive medication. Now there's a proposal to "send electric pulses through the skull to help stabilize the brain after quitting 'cold turkey' and help to control the body's craving." Hmmm.....Wonder if this is Meg Patterson's "Black Box" brought back from the grave (and Tijuana...)or something else....Doesn't appear to be ECT at least....

Now why don't they bring back "hydrotherapy" while they're at it....

I recall the BLACKBOX era well - it was championed by a rock gorup (or whatever groups were called back then)in UK. It was heralded in america, hong kong and presumably elsewhere as a new cure - one that cost beaucoup bucks, but was near-magical. Dont know whether the scots have invented a new and differewnt black box. Heaven help the poor drug dependent Scots.

Is it not ECT? I couldn't really tell from the short piece.

I had a friend in NZ who had recieved electroshock therapy (ECT) while in custody on remand awaiting trial for possession in the late 1960s. So not convicted of any crime.

And we thought that was the dark old days. It did no good, he remained a heroin addict for years more, probably decades. But with new violent personality traits.

And I remember the black box's brief career. Sounded much like scientology to me.

I'm pretty sure it's Meg Patterson's black box once again. This somewhat longer piece gives a name to the "treatment" and it's the same as that used by Patterson in the old days (and she was a Scot...). Last I heard the box was still being used for big $$ in clinics in Mexico....

ECT and insulin shock were commonly used "treatments" for opioid dependency in the US as well...Add to those lobotomy, aversive conditioning, etc etc....

I feel you have no right to be critical of the cure as you haven't seen it or witnesed it's effects, I recently attended a conference held by maxi richards in Glasgow where we were presented with evidence of the cure and it's capabilities, as I'm 16 and lack a doctorate I know I hold no sway on the opinions of anyone posting here but please before you cast the idea aside take a chance to look at the facts and then make up your mind.

Here here Mr anonymous - take a chance to READ something and LEARN THEN decide for yourself - rather than posting a comment just to be funny, witty, or amusing.

You're taking part in life - your opinion counts toward collective understanding!

So stop screwing up people’s lives whom have already screwed their own lives up (I must admit) by not giving them a chance to unscrew-up their lives (ehem). Make sense? No, didn't think so.

DO NOT form the auto response that you have been told to by the things you watch and read. SHEEP! Bill Hicks was so right - wash all these turds of my lawn.

Educate yourselves please; at least try to understand!
