Vincent P. Dole, MD, Dies at 93 (Aug 2, 2006)

Dr. Dole will be missed. He was a courageous, pioneer in the field of addiction treatment, and his achievements and impact can be seen throughout the world today (see tribute). He was not only a colleague and a mentor, but a dear friend. If you would like to offer a few words in memory of the man and his achievements please do so.

It is so strange to be so sad about someone passing, when it is someone you have never even MET. But I am. I feel like I owe Dr.Dole and his wife my life...and in a way I really DO. I can't imagine where I, or the other thousands (millions?) of opiate addicts would be right now if these Doctors had not cared enough about their patients to do the research they did. I can't even picture how my life would have ended had I not found methadone. Had Dr.Dole and his wife not found it for me!

Thank you, Dr. Dole.

I am sorry for your loss. It is clearly a loss for humanity, especially the Addict.
